Camp Drummond: Week 1

CMI took on Drummond Island and made some memories!

Communicare hit the road and traveled north over the Mackinac Bridge, and onto a ferry that got them to Drummond Island.

Once on the island, members enjoyed several activities including: bonfires, games, shopping and loads of delicious foods. Our happy campers ate like queens. They delighted in tacos, make-your-own pizzas, BBQ’s with burgers and hot dogs and even massive ice cream sundaes and homemade ice cream sandwiches.

Aside from the amazing food, our campers also enjoyed beautiful beach days, a BINGO night, campfires and arts & crafts. The beach day was a camp favorite because of the breathtaking scenery and fun in the water with friends.

Reviews from Staff and Clients Week 1:

“I really like being able to meet and talk to new people. I’m going to be talking about this trip for weeks!” - KZ

“I’ve never laughed so much and been able to bond with clients and other staff like this before!” -Peyton M.

“I think that going to Drummond was a bonding experience between staff and clients on a level that could only be reached through teamwork and shared joy. We had worked together, eaten together and rested together which brought us all closer. Us girls have shared experiences and being able to escape the chaos of reality to a northern oasis dissolved our differences and enhanced our similarities. Trips like these will be something I’d never regret and always encourage.” - Grace E.

“It was a very unique experience, many opportunities for recreational therapy up there and excited for the upcoming weeks with all the activities we have planned!” - Anissa P.

“I loved spending time with good people.” -TP

This is what the Communicare experience looks like!

The countdown to the next camping trip is on and the men are up next! Stay tuned.
